3) Criticism's of the websites - 2
2) This website not only discusses the difference between 'digital immigrants' and 'digital natives,' but also discusses why businesses 'Wanting to create a nimble and highly versatile organization' should not employ 'digital immigrants'. The site states that a 'digital immigrant may still print out important emails and put them on file.' In addition to gain this 'highly versatile organization' you must ' weed out the people who are digital immigrants and really are out of their depth working for a "wireless tech" type of business.' This is something that i do not necessarily agree with. With this article being fairly recent - May 07, 2007, i understand what they are trying to get at, but right now there are many 'digital immigrants' still working within 'wireless tech' kind of businesses. What does it mean for them? Get rid of them. I feel that not all of the people within the 'pre-digital age' has no idea how to use this 'new technology', in fact i feel that some 'digital immigrants' are in fact more up to date with the technology than i am. In addition, i do not oppose to people printing off emails and putting them on file. What if the computer breaks, or even worse what if the computers and software's get stolen and you do not have the saved emails? And they are important. Sometimes these 'old ways' can be beneficial, I'm not saying to that 'wireless tech type of businesses' are not the way forward, i just think that sometimes we ignore what was good about the 'pre-digital age'. what do you think? do you think that your parents and relatives aren't worthy of a 'wireless tech' job?
